Microsoft on Wednesday (2/6/2021) said it would soon launch the latest series of Windows operating systems on June 24.
Citing CNBC International, this step comes a week after the company's CEO, Satya Nadella gave a teaser about the new generation of Windows at the Microsoft Build event. In the event, he said that the latest Windows will be more friendly to developers and content creators.
Last month, Microsoft confirmed it would not be launching Windows 10X, an operating system built specifically for dual-screen devices. Some of the visual elements of Windows 10X are starting to be carried over to the main edition of Windows 10. This is increasingly led to speculation that the latest Windows will soon be launched.
Meanwhile, some estimates began to emerge regarding this latest Windows feature. The company made by Bill Gates is said to be working on an update for Windows codenamed Sun Valley. Sun Valley will include a more modern look with rounded corners to some important components such as the Start menu located in the corner.
In addition, Microsoft also said that making changes to the Windows app store, where they will use a trading system that involves third parties. With this system, developers can avoid the commission that Microsoft takes on every game and application purchase.
Further, the launch event will be held online. At the launch, CEO Nadella will be there, along with Panos Panay, Microsoft's chief product officer.
Windows has been the source of 14% of Microsoft's total revenue. The Seattle, USA-based company has made two updates every year to the Windows 10 operating system since it was first launched in 2015.
